SaaS Business LawThis article is just too good and deserves a repost on the Business & Culture Blog.  I am an Indiana technology lawyer focusing on entrepreneurial law, SaaS business law and technology law.  As such, this article hits home as it lies at the intersection of social media and legal process.  The article is by Robert Ambrogi and posted on the IMS Expert Services blog.  I will repost it in 3 parts - all are worth reading.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. The same is not true of what happens...

Lori Drew- The Saga Continues

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 by Chris Stephen
I had every intention today of writing an insightful piece on the recent Lori Drew decision handed down by District Court in California yesterday, however, Eric Goldman beat me to it. So, I'm going to instead give you the link to his blog post on it and send him a big kudos from the Indiana technology law world.

Professor Goldman's tech and marketing blog (which I recommend to anyone that is interested in cyberlaw or Internet litigation) is http://blog.ericgoldman.org/.  His blog also has a link...Read More »

Supporting Innovation

Friday, July 17, 2009 by David Castor
About three weeks ago I wrote a post addressing some of my concerns regarding the rumored state budget cut to innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.  Sadly, the state legislatures decided to cut innovation funding substantially.

On July 1 the budget for Indiana's 21st Century Research and Technology Fund was cut by $35 million over the next two years.  This is an extremely short sighted move.  It has a negative impact on both attracting and promoting growth for emerging technology...Read More »

SaaS Law - Don't Ignore Boring Contract Provisions

Thursday, June 4, 2009 by David Castor
Let's face it - most contract terms are boring.  SaaS licensors and their customers want to close deals.  They want to hammer out the business terms and key legal terms and get the contract done.  I don't blame them.  Nobody in their right mind wakes up in the morning and says "I want to negotiate a contract today."

After weeks (or even months) of negotiations over key business and legal terms, the parties often are left with a few miscellaneous "legal" terms that seem more of a burden than...Read More »

SaaS Law - Indianapolis is a Great SaaS City

Sunday, April 19, 2009 by David Castor
There was a great post this last week in the Indianapolis Business Journal's blog on Indianapolis being a leading Internet marketing software city.  Chris Baggott of Compendium Blogware was interviewed on his thoughts regarding the market.

Here is an excerpt:

Chris Baggott, who runs one of the companies developing the software, Compendium Blogware, says Indianapolis actually has emerged as a center of the budding industry.

Consider that the city also hosts ExactTarget and Aprimo, both of which...
