So my heart was ripped out again this year as my beloved Cubbies fell in 3 in the NLDS. With the baseball season now dead (and, I would argue, meaningless), my focus moves away from the Windy City and back to Indianapolis - to our Colts.
Sporting News Magazine issued their rankings of the Top 400 Sports Cities today. Indianapolis (the self-proclaimed "Sports Capital of the World") was ranked #23.
In my previous blog post entitled "Creativity and Culture", I discussed Alerding Castor's business law group's target market on clients that are part of the "Creative Class". An important factor in a city developing its Creative Class is for the city to develop cultural destinations, events and attractions to attract entrepreneurs, artists, professionals, college graduates... those individuals who participate in (and expect from their city) cultural initiatives. As recognized by the Sporting News, Indianapolis has done well in creating cultural appeal through its sports programs. Although only one factor in creating an overall cultural-significant city, this is a good thing and should be celebrated.
