Iasta Achieves SAS70 Type II Certification

Congratulations to Indianapolis licensing and SaaS company Iasta for achieving its SAS 70 Type II certification. This certification relates to the internal controls that Iasta placed in its operations, the suitability of its design of the controls to achieve specified control objectives, and a service auditor's opinion on whether the specific controls were operating effectively during the period under review.

Iasta delivers cost effective supply management solutions and equips organizations for success by helping them make better sourcing decisions through the use of its On-Demand / SaaS e-Sourcing software and global services. Earlier this year, Iasta was named in Entreprenuer Magazine's Hot 100 list. It has also been named in Software Magazine's Top 500 list of 2007 and as #8 in Indiana for Inc. Magazine's Fastest Growing Companies of 2007. Iasta is also a member of Alerding Castor's Partners in Success program.

According to Dave Bush, CEO and co-founder of Iasta (see full blog post here):

[T]his was a massive undertaking, which diverted huge amounts of resources. Some of the requirements were a bit ridiculous; however, many are meant to enforce airtight security. I can say definitively, that our processes and controls are very tight now, and they were not that bad to begin.

I do not know the exact number of companies in eSourcing that have this certification, but it is certainly not to be assumed. I know Ariba is, but other than that, the information is not obvious from public information. We will now be required to stay current on these new controls, which has already paid dividends in conversations with prospective clients that begin asking security questions.

This whole process took a full year at great expense (thanks, Enron). We had to totally change our internal structure to segregate the IT and development tasks. It’s all good in the long run, we would have naturally needed to do these things as we grew as an organization with increasing overall complexity. Personally, I am looking forward to elevating our competitive position with a globally recognized accolade and virtual “cheers” to the Iasta team that made it happen.
