There is a great article in the Indianapolis Business Journal today on our client Indiana Nanotech, LLC and its principle, Robert Karlinsey, Ph.D. The article addresses Indiana Nanotech's recent partnership with 3M. Indiana Nanotech is an Indiana technology business providing calcium phosphate blends which have significant and broad applications for oral health (i.e., an ability to infuse calcium phosphate into common dental products to provide enhanced oral health benefits). See my previous blog entry on Indiana Nanotech for more on our partnership with them.
Here is an excerpt from the IBJ article:
Karlinsey’s innovation solves a problem common in dentists’ offices. He developed a proprietary method of adding calcium to fluoride toothpaste. Calcium prevents tooth erosion. But unlike chocolate and peanut butter, calcium and fluoride don’t go well together because they’re usually unstable when combined.
Eventually, Karlinsey hopes to add calcium to other products, including mouthwash, tooth-polishing varnish and perhaps even throat lozenges, mints or gum. But that’s all still to come. Regulatory approvals in the dental field often take years.
Alerding Castor is proud of our partnership with Indiana Nanotech and Dr. Karlinsey and looks forward to seeing this great Indiana venture reach it success goals!
